Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 23rd that it held the unveiling ceremony of the "2024 Smart City Certification" plaque, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on the 20th.

View original imageThe plaque unveiling ceremony was held at the main building's first-floor central entrance, attended by about 30 people including Mayor Kim Dong-geun, City Council Chairman Kim Yeon-gyun, city council members, and members of the Smart City Project Council. The event featured attractions such as drone flights and a Santa performance, receiving great enthusiasm from attendees.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport operates the Smart City Certification system to systematically assess the level of smartification of domestic cities. Using 53 indicators focused on innovation, governance and institutional environment, services, and technology, it conducts quantitative and qualitative evaluations to select outstanding institutions.
The city passed the first written evaluation and the second on-site inspection, and was selected as an excellent local government for 2024, receiving a certificate and plaque.
The city received high praise for its unique and substantial citizen-tailored smart services, including the multifunctional smart mirror and bus stop stability system, which were the first of their kind built nationwide, as well as the ICT-based fine dust reduction and real-time LCD display device project promoted as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport regulatory sandbox demonstration project.
