A Mural Painted by Little Hands... Yeongju Bibong Children's Playground Fence Transformed
Korail Orinijip Children Participate
Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 23rd that the fence of Bibong Children's Playground has been newly decorated with a mural through the collaboration of children from the Korail Daycare Center and the Park Management Department staff.
This fence mural project began to address residents' complaints that the old and dull gray fence bordering the train station after the remodeling of Bibong Children's Playground was spoiling the surrounding scenery.
The city carried out a two-week mural work including exterior wall cleaning, painting, and coating to improve the environment and provide children with an opportunity to learn about urban beautification and participate directly.
Despite the cold weather, the Park Management Department staff and the daycare children joined hands to paint the mural. Passersby watched the concrete wall come to life and expressed their joy, saying, "The dark and dull alleyway has become bright and cheerful."
The mural features Yeongju City's character 'Heally' at its center, along with paintings themed around the four seasons and familiar fairy tale elements. The design, which stimulates children's imagination, and the bright colors completely transformed the entire fence.
Jeong Eun-su (7 years old) from the Hanul class at Korail Daycare Center said, "I feel happy every time I see the fence I decorated myself," and added, "I really enjoyed painting the mural with my friends."
