View original imageGoyang Special City was designated as a Women-Friendly City for the third time, following 2014 and 2019, by signing an agreement with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on the 19th. With this designation, the city will continue its reputation as a Women-Friendly City for five years from 2025 to 2029.
A Women-Friendly City refers to a city that operates policies ensuring equal participation of women and men in local policy and development processes, empowerment of women, and the realization of care and safety.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family designates cities after reviewing local governments that have established plans aligned with the vision and goals of Women-Friendly Cities and have the will and foundation to implement them.
So far, the city has continuously promoted Women-Friendly City projects such as improving safety environments through the operation of secure unmanned parcel lockers and intelligent CCTV control systems, expanding women's social and economic participation through the operation of the Goyang Women’s Startup Support Center and Goyang Women Workers Welfare Center, expanding care infrastructure including shared childcare centers and child care services, and establishing a Women-Friendly City citizen participation group and public-private cooperation system.
