Pohang City Conducts Proactive Snow Removal Ahead of Forecast... Completely Resolving Citizen Inconvenience
Deployment of 8 Snow Removal Vehicles and 25 Tons of Deicing Agents in Snowy Mountain Areas
Mayor Lee Gang-deok: "Proactive Response to Damage Caused by Weather Anomalies"
Pohang City proactively carried out rapid snow removal operations in response to the snow forecast, preventing inconvenience to citizens.
On the 21st, as snow and rain were forecasted in areas including the mountainous region of Jukjang, Gibuk-myeon, and Gigae-myeon, the city deployed eight pieces of equipment such as cleaning snow removal vehicles, excavators, and dump trucks, along with 25 tons of snow removal agents including calcium chloride and brine, from early morning. Overnight snow removal operations were conducted focusing on mountainous areas and mountain passes.
In particular, for the habitual icy sections in Sangok-ri Saemjae, Seongbeopjae, Gasajae, and Tongjeomjae in Jukjang-myeon, where more snow fell than in the downtown area, preemptive snow removal operations were carried out together with forest fire watchers to ensure smooth vehicle traffic and prevent inconvenience to citizens.
Additionally, the city continuously monitored snowfall conditions to minimize traffic disruptions and paid close attention to prevent accidents on icy roads caused by snow and rain.
On the evening of the 18th, when a heavy snow warning was issued, Pohang City immediately entered emergency level 2 duty and implemented a one-third staff work schedule as part of its proactive response.
Judging that more snow may fall this year due to abnormal weather patterns, Pohang City plans to closely monitor future weather conditions and minimize citizen inconvenience through swift responses in case of emergencies.
