International Student Supporters Promote the Charms of Gwangju

View original imageThe city of Gwangju announced on the 21st that it held the '2024 Gwangju International Student Supporters Closing Ceremony' at the City Hall Multipurpose Hall on the afternoon of the 20th, marking the end of 10 months of activities. The closing ceremony included sharing the achievements of the supporters and awarding outstanding participants.
The supporters consisted of 22 international students from 18 countries, including Vietnam, Japan, China, and Uzbekistan, currently enrolled at eight universities and graduate schools in the Gwangju area.
Since the inauguration ceremony in March, they have carried out various promotional activities to showcase the appeal of Gwangju and its local universities to the world. After participating in local university tours and events organized by the city, they promoted Gwangju's charm by posting 246 pieces of content on social networking services (SNS). Online content themed around Gwangju's culture, nature, and student life received a total of 9,369 'likes', significantly enhancing Gwangju's international image through positive engagement.
Based on a comprehensive evaluation of both online and offline activities, Makihara Ayumi (Gwangju National University of Education, Japan), Tanaka Moe (Chonnam National University, Japan), and Naranbator Nomin Erden (Chonnam National University, Mongolia) received the Gwangju Mayor's Award, while Medina Cuevas Perla Coral (Chonnam National University, Dominican Republic) and Gafur Muhammad Ifnan (Chosun University, Pakistan) received the Gwangju International Center Director's Award. The evaluation criteria for awardees included the number of individual participations, number of content posts, and content popularity, with high scorers selected as recipients.
Kim Donghyun, Director of Education and Youth, stated, "The activities of the supporters, who come from diverse backgrounds around the world, have gone beyond simple promotion to serve as a bridge connecting Gwangju and its local universities with the world. I hope they will achieve even greater dreams based on their experiences in Gwangju."
