Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 20th that the Yangju City Mental Health Welfare Center (Director Oh Sang-hoon) received the ‘2024 Mental Emergency Response Merit’ Gyeonggi Province Governor’s Institutional Commendation in recognition of its efforts to promptly intervene in mental health crisis situations and minimize harm to citizens.

Director Oh Sang-hoon, who received the commendation, stated, “This award is the result of the support from Yangju City and the collective efforts of the local community. We will continue to establish a more strengthened system to ensure that citizens in crisis situations receive prompt support and strive to promote the healthy lives of Yangju citizens based on expertise in the mental health field.”
Mental health crises can occur without warning, and especially when crisis responses are swift and professional, a greater social safety net can be established.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “To create a mentally safe Yangju City, we have formed and operate a Mental Emergency Response Council consisting of the Public Health Center, Mental Health Welfare Center, fire department, police, and personnel from mental medical institutions. We will continue to strengthen the mental health crisis response system and make efforts to improve accessibility to mental health services.”
