Namyangju City Holds Award Ceremony for the 38th Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival Literary Contest
Gyeonggi Namyangju City (Mayor Ju Gwang-deok) announced on the 19th that it held the awards ceremony for the 38th Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival Literary Contest at the City Hall Dasan Hall on the 18th.

View original imageHosted by Namyangju City and organized by the Namyangju Cultural Center, the awards ceremony was attended by about 300 guests and citizens, including Mayor Ju Gwang-deok, Kim Kyung-don, Director of the Namyangju Cultural Center, Ji Mi-sook, Head of the School Support Division at Guri Namyangju Office of Education, awardees, and their families.
At the awards ceremony, in the art category, children Yoo Ye-seul (Yekkum Kindergarten) and Lee Jeong-yeon (Namyangju Dasan Elementary School, Grade 6) received the grand prize; in the writing contest category, student Cha Hye-rin (Yang-o Elementary School, Grade 4) was honored; and in the calligraphy category, student Kim Ji-soo (Onam High School, Grade 3) received the grand prize.
Kim Kyung-don, Director of the Namyangju Cultural Center, said, “The Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival Literary Contest, now in its 38th year, is a cultural event filled with the tradition and pride of Namyangju City. Thinking that the students who participated in the first contest have now become parents and came here with their children fills me with deep emotion and pride.”
Director Kim also stated, “We will continue to make efforts so that the children and youth of Namyangju can inherit the spirit of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong and realize greater dreams and talents.”
Mayor Ju Gwang-deok said, “The Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Cultural Festival Literary Contest is a competition that inherits the philosophy of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, who emphasized the importance of reading and literature, and it is the most recognized literary contest in the metropolitan area.”
