Uijeongbu City Discusses Improvement Plans for Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit Operation
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 19th that a meeting was held on the 18th in the mayor's office with the CEO of Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit Co., Ltd. and others to discuss measures to improve the operation of the Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit.

View original imageThe Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit began operation in July 2012 using vehicles (VAL208) and signaling systems manufactured by Siemens in Germany. The difference in climate between Europe and Korea has been identified as a major cause of vehicle malfunctions and operational disruptions.
At the meeting, comprehensive operational improvement measures were discussed to minimize operational disruptions and reduce passenger inconvenience and safety accidents. Topics included preventive measures against operational disruptions, special training for control personnel, employee morale enhancement plans, and securing maintenance time.
The CEO of Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit Co., Ltd. stated, “We will do our best internally to improve operations by implementing special training programs based on cases of operational disruptions and supplementing related procedural documents to minimize future disruptions.”
