Child Meal Committee Meeting Held for Children Facing Food Insecurity During Winter Vacation
Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 19th that it held the 2nd Child Meal Committee meeting of 2024 on the 18th to prevent child food insecurity during the winter vacation.

View original imageThe Child Meal Committee was established under the 'Dongducheon City Child Meal Support Ordinance' to prevent food insecurity by providing meal support so that children from low-income families can grow up healthily.
At the meeting, committee members including representatives from the Dongducheon Yangju Office of Education, the Child Meal Management Support Center, the Central Association of Food Service Industry, and citizen representatives attended to review and decide on the support for 8 children selected for meal support during the 2024 winter vacation.
Kim Young-mi, Director of the Social Welfare Division, said, “I am grateful to everyone who attended the committee despite the cold weather to support children at risk of food insecurity. We will continue to actively identify children in need around us.”
Meanwhile, the city provides lunch support during vacations for children at risk of food insecurity and also provides meal cards to children who cannot have meals on weekends and holidays due to their parents’ work activities.
