View original imageThe Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University (headed by Lee Munyoung) announced on the 19th that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding educational and academic exchange with the Core Protein Resource Center at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) (headed by Choi Sungkyun).
According to this agreement, starting from January next year, students from the Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University will be dispatched as intern researchers to the DGIST Core Protein Resource Center for practical training. The students will gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research environment and develop both academic and practical skills through collaboration with field experts.
This agreement was established to promote the development of basic medicine and related industries through the convergence of the animal industry and life sciences, and to strengthen the cultivation of future talent.
Through the agreement, both institutions will strengthen academic exchanges and research cooperation, and operate joint educational programs to foster talent in the fields of companion animal health and life sciences. They will also collaborate on research and technology development related to diseases in companion animals using protein resources, and jointly host academic events and seminars. The two institutions plan to focus on producing practical and tangible results by leveraging their professional expertise and research infrastructure.
The DGIST Core Protein Resource Center is a national research institution under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, conducting advanced research in the bio field, including protein structure and function analysis and new drug development. Based on its research infrastructure and accumulated technological capabilities, it contributes to the advancement of the national bio industry and expands its achievements through cooperation with various domestic and international research institutions and industries.
The Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University focuses on nurturing professionals through innovative education and research in the fields of companion animal health and industry.
