Uijeongbu-si Holds 6th Welfare Policy Strategy Meeting
Mayor Kim Dong-geun: "Please strive to develop tailored policies to address the aging of people with disabilities"
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 18th that it held the '6th Welfare Policy Strategy Meeting' in the mayor's office at city hall on the 17th to explore ways to promote welfare policies through interdepartmental or public-private cooperation.

View original imageMayor Kim Dong-geun, the Director of the Welfare Bureau, the Head of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Northern Gyeonggi Branch, the Director of the Uijeongbu Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center, and 16 related department heads attended the meeting to discuss the 2025 Uijeongbu City Comprehensive Disability Policy Plan and major strategic projects.
The city plans to implement major strategic projects in three areas for 2025 based on an analysis of the actual conditions and reflecting the needs of people with disabilities: ▲expansion of care functions ▲strengthening rehabilitation and education ▲increase in independence and employment.
To realize this, the city will establish the 2025 Comprehensive Disability Policy Plan and enact the Ordinance on the Promotion of Welfare for Persons with Disabilities, thereby laying the foundation for policy implementation and strengthening accountability.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun emphasized, “It is important to alleviate the burdens on people with disabilities and their families and to create a foundation for independence where they can live together with non-disabled people,” adding, “Please work hard to develop customized policies to respond to the aging of people with disabilities caused by entering a super-aged society and the increase in acquired disabilities.”
