Hapcheon-gun Holds Completion Ceremony for 'Dongbu Region Household Waste Landfill Facility'
Strengthening Pollution Prevention Facilities Including Leachate Leakage Detection System
Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 18th that it held a completion ceremony for the ‘Eastern Region Municipal Waste Landfill Facility’ established in the Dugok-ri area of Cheongdeok-myeon, attended by about 100 people including County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol, county officials, heads of local organizations, and residents.
Due to the large area, the county had installed and operated four landfill facilities by region. However, since the Eastern Region landfill facility located in Chogye-myeon was decommissioned in 2017, the project was initiated. With a project cost of 7.7 billion KRW, the facility was constructed on an area of 24,781㎡ with a capacity of 76,500㎥.

Special efforts were made to strengthen pollution prevention facilities, such as a leachate leakage detection system, to ensure no environmental pollution concerns arise from landfill operations.
The landfill operation will be outsourced to the Hapcheon-gun Facilities Management Corporation and is scheduled to begin next year. It will handle non-combustible waste and combustible waste incineration ash generated upon completion of the future incineration plant.
