Considerable Snow in Some Areas
A cold wave will hit on the 18th.
A cold wave advisory is expected to be issued at 9 p.m. on the 17th for the northern and eastern parts of Gyeonggi Province and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province. The cold wave advisory is issued when the morning low temperature is expected to remain below -12 degrees Celsius for two or more consecutive days.
On the 18th, morning temperatures are expected to hover around -10 degrees Celsius, mainly in the inland areas of central regions, eastern Jeonbuk, and inland Gyeongbuk.
Across the country, morning low temperatures will range between -12 degrees and 0 degrees Celsius. Daytime high temperatures are forecast to be between -1 degree and 7 degrees Celsius. In the central regions, eastern Jeonbuk, and northern inland Gyeongbuk, temperatures will remain around 0 degrees even during the day.
In Seoul, the morning low temperature and perceived temperature in the morning on the 18th will drop to -6 degrees and -10 degrees Celsius, respectively. The daytime high temperature and afternoon perceived temperature are forecast to be 1 degree above zero and -2 degrees Celsius.

Amid the severe cold, snow and rain are expected in various areas. First, the cold northwesterly winds passing over the relatively warm West Sea will create cloud bands, bringing rain or snow to the western coast of Chungnam, southern inland Chungnam, western Jeolla, and Jeju.
This rain and snow will generally cease by the afternoon, but in western Jeonnam and Jeju, it may continue until the night of the 18th and early morning of the 19th, respectively.
Additionally, as easterly winds blow, rain or snow will fall on the eastern coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon and the eastern coast and northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk from late afternoon on the 18th until early morning on the 19th.
