Im Seonghwa, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Honam Voters Union 'Best Basic Council Member Award'
Im Seonghwa, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, was recognized for her contributions to the development of the local community through active legislative activities for local residents.
Im Seonghwa, a council member of Seo-gu, Gwangju (representing Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, Dongcheon-dong), announced on the 17th that she was recently selected as the ‘2024 Best Basic Council Member’ at the Honam Voters Union (hereafter Union) event held at the April 19 Revolution Memorial Hall.
The Union awarded Im Seonghwa the ‘Best Basic Council Member Award’ in recognition of her active legislative work aimed at stabilizing the lives of local residents and promoting public welfare, taking into account social and environmental changes as well as the needs of children, adolescents, the elderly, and single-person households.
She also worked hard to ensure the safety and rights of various residents by enacting ordinances such as the ‘Seo-gu Single-Person Household Support Ordinance,’ the ‘Seo-gu Elderly Driver Traffic Accident Prevention Ordinance,’ and the ‘Seo-gu Youth Labor Rights Protection and Promotion Ordinance.’
The Union explained the reason for selecting her for the award, stating, “She made significant contributions through legislative activities aimed at ultimately expanding ‘local autonomy centered on local residents,’ including the enactment of the ‘Seo-gu Autonomous Police Affairs Support Ordinance,’ the first of its kind in Gwangju Metropolitan City, which supports autonomous police affairs tailored to local conditions and demands.”
