Gwangju Volunteer Center Receives Award for Promoting Paper Pack Collection and Recycling
The Gwangju Volunteer Center received the Chairman's Award from the Korea Packaging Recycling Business Cooperative at the ‘2024 Paper Pack Collection and Recycling Promotion Merit Awards Ceremony’ held on the 17th, hosted by the Ministry of Environment, the Korea Central Volunteer Center Foundation, and the Korea Packaging Recycling Business Cooperative.

View original imageThis award ceremony recognized institutions, organizations, and individuals who have devoted themselves to promoting the collection and recycling of paper packs. Among 43 volunteer centers nationwide participating in the resource circulation volunteer support project, the Gwangju Volunteer Center was selected as an exemplary case and honored with the award.
The Gwangju Volunteer Center received high praise for leading citizen participation in resource circulation volunteering through innovative activities such as signing a resource circulation agreement with three major religions, producing resource circulation volunteer audio content, and creating a guide map for paper pack collection boxes.
Currently, the center operates 70 general pack collection boxes across 64 institutions and organizations, including religious groups, social welfare institutions, and daycare centers, with plans to further expand in 2025.
Bang Se-hwan, Chairman of the Gwangju Volunteer Center, stated, “Environmental protection is both our duty and a promise to future generations. We will do our best to ensure that resource circulation volunteer activities take root in everyday life and create significant change.” He added, “We will plan more diverse forms of volunteering to create an environment where volunteers can easily participate.”
