Hamyang Museum, Special Exhibition Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of Its Opening
Special Exhibition "Hamyang, Drawing Time" from December 18 to June 29, 2025
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, will hold a special exhibition titled "Hamyang, Drawing Time" from the 18th of this month until June 29, 2025, in the planned exhibition hall on the second floor of the Hamyang Museum to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the museum's opening.
This special exhibition was planned to highlight Hamyang's cultural heritage and to inform the residents about the importance of the region's history and culture.
In particular, the exhibition of treasure-level relics that offer a glimpse into Hamyang's past and photographs capturing memories of Sangnim is expected to convey deep meaning to the residents of Hamyang-gun.
The special exhibition is composed of five themes: ▲World Cultural Heritage ▲Buddhist Cultural Heritage ▲Family Cultural Heritage ▲Buried Cultural Heritage ▲Sangnim.
Among the main exhibited relics is the treasure-level sarira reliquary excavated from the Hamyang Seungan Temple Site Three-story Stone Pagoda, which was previously displayed at the Silla Art Museum of the National Gyeongju Museum, drawing significant attention.
The sarira reliquary was discovered in 1962 when the Hamyang Seungan Temple Site Three-story Stone Pagoda was relocated to its current position. From the sarira chamber in the first-floor body stone of the pagoda, a cylindrical bronze sarira container, silk fragments, and pouches were found. Inside the sarira container, there was a green glass sarira bottle containing one sarira, a string of glass beads, and seven rings made of silver and white copper.
Additionally, this exhibition features numerous valuable relics that testify to Hamyang's history, including a Buddha statue found at the Choi Chi-won Stele, besides the relics from the Seungan Temple Site Three-story Stone Pagoda.
