Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong: "Consistently Implementing Measures to Strengthen Regional and Essential Medical Care"
Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong urged key officials of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to faithfully implement health and welfare policies directly related to public health and the protection of vulnerable groups, ensuring stability in people’s livelihoods.
According to the Ministry, on the morning of the 16th, Minister Cho held an emergency executive meeting attended by the 1st and 2nd Vice Ministers, each department head, and the directors of relevant bureaus, where he instructed thorough implementation of winter emergency medical measures and respiratory disease management plans, and emphasized the need to prepare emergency medical measures for the Lunar New Year holiday without any setbacks through communication efforts with the healthcare sector.
He also stressed that the already announced measures to strengthen regional and essential medical services must be consistently and faithfully implemented according to promises made to the public. In particular, he highlighted the importance of steadily advancing the pilot project for structural transformation, launched last October, which focuses on having tertiary general hospitals concentrate on treating severe, emergency, and rare diseases, while continuously listening to the voices from the medical field to make ongoing improvements and developments.
Furthermore, he ordered thorough preparations for the increase in basic living security livelihood benefits, the rise in basic pension and disability pension amounts, and the expansion of senior employment opportunities, all of which will take effect from January next year.
