In Yohan, Kim Minjeon, Jang Donghyuk, Jin Jongoh Resign as People Power Party Supreme Council Members
If 4 out of 5 members resign, the Supreme Council will be dissolved
Han Dong-hoon "I will perform my duties"
Inyo-han, Kim Min-jeon, Jang Dong-hyeok, and Jin Jong-oh, senior members of the People Power Party, reportedly tendered their resignations on the 14th.
A member of the People Power Party told Asia Economy on the afternoon of the same day that these senior members expressed their intention to resign during an emergency party members' meeting held immediately after the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol was passed in the National Assembly plenary session.
Currently, the elected senior members of the People Power Party consist of pro-Roh faction members Jang Dong-hyeok and Jin Jong-oh, and pro-Yoon faction members Kim Min-jeon, Inyo-han, and Kim Jae-won. All elected senior members who are incumbent lawmakers and able to enter the members' meeting hall have expressed their intention to resign.
According to the People Power Party's constitution and regulations, if four or more of the five elected senior members resign, the Supreme Council is dissolved, and the party transitions to an emergency committee system.
However, Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, dismissed questions about his resignation immediately after the motion was passed, stating, "I will continue to perform my duties." When asked if he was considering the possibility of transitioning to an emergency committee system, he said, "The impeachment decision was just made, and it must be a confusing situation, so let's give it some time."
