In a statement issued immediately after the National Assembly passed the impeachment motion against him, President Yoon said, "I will hold in my heart all the criticisms, encouragement, and support directed at me, and do my best for the country until the very last moment."
President Yoon recalled, "Watching the National Assembly pass the impeachment motion today, I was reminded of June 29, 2021, when I first declared my entry into politics," and said, "The country's liberal democracy and rule of law had collapsed."
He continued, "The despair of self-employed workers and the frustration of young people filled the entire nation. I entered politics carrying that passionate national desire," and reflected, "Since then, I have worked tirelessly and devoted all my energy."
President Yoon said, "When I traveled the world carrying the title of Korea's first top salesperson and achieved results, I felt an indescribable great sense of fulfillment," adding, "Now, that arduous yet happy, difficult yet rewarding journey has come to a temporary halt. I am frustrated, fearing that the efforts made so far might be in vain."
Following the suspension of his duties due to the passage of the impeachment motion, President Yoon urged public officials to fulfill their responsibilities.
He emphasized, "Although these are difficult and challenging times, I hope everyone will steadfastly maintain their positions and fulfill their duties," and added, "I ask that everyone, centered around the acting president, unite their efforts and do their utmost to protect the safety and happiness of the people."
