The event was structured in two sessions, both focusing on innovative technologies in Korean medicine.
In the first session, the Intelligent Informatization Center of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development introduced innovative approaches to Korean medicine using database-driven models. Various cases of innovation utilizing data were presented, including the collection and processing of herbal medicine experimental information, knowledge information services, and AI-based herbal medicine recommendation systems.
The second session featured experts from various fields, including Oh Seryang, Director of the Ochang Branch of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, and Lee Wonyong, Professor at the College of Korean Medicine at Wonkwang University. They shared innovative cases of Korean medicine using big data and artificial intelligence technologies, followed by in-depth discussions on the digital transformation of Korean medicine.
In particular, the symposium heightened expectations for the development of artificial intelligence models that utilize big data in Korean medicine to discover new efficacies and predict both effectiveness and safety.
Shin Jesu, Acting Director of the institute, stated, "Artificial intelligence technology is an important tool that can strengthen the scientific foundation of Korean medicine and open a new chapter in precision medicine. We will spare no effort in providing active interest and systematic support for the development of AI models aimed at discovering new efficacies in herbal medicine and predicting their effectiveness and safety."
This symposium is expected to serve as a cornerstone for the digital transformation and AI integration in the field of Korean medicine, thereby advancing its scientific basis, standardization, and globalization.
