Wanju-gun Distributes 37 'Wandering Detectors' to Dementia Patients

Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, has provided 37 wandering detectors free of charge to dementia patients.
According to the Dementia Safety Center on the 13th, this project was promoted to prevent the disappearance of dementia patients and to quickly find them in case of disappearance. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the National Police Agency, SK Hynix, Jeonbuk Bank, and the Korean Red Cross.

View original imageThe wandering detector is a wristwatch-type device equipped with a GPS (Global Positioning System) tracker that can be used in case of disappearance. It allows caregivers to check the location and movement path of dementia patients in real time through a smartphone app. When the patient leaves a safe zone set by the caregiver, an alert is sent to prevent disappearance and assist in quick discovery and return home.
Governor Yoo Hee-tae said, “We will continue to pay attention to preventing the disappearance of dementia patients and ensuring that those who are likely to wander can quickly return home in case of disappearance.”
