Uijeongbu-si Wins 'National Assembly Suicide Prevention Award for Outstanding Local Governments' for 2 Consecutive Years
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 13th that it was selected as an excellent local government for suicide prevention at the 6th National Assembly Suicide Prevention Awards held on the 12th, receiving the National Assembly Suicide Prevention Forum Representative Award.
The National Assembly Suicide Prevention Forum Excellent Local Government Award is given to local governments that receive high scores for their suicide prevention and life respect promotion activities among basic local governments. Uijeongbu City was selected as an excellent local government in the "cities with a population of over 300,000" group.
Uijeongbu City is making efforts to spread a culture of respect for life in the local community. Since the establishment of the Suicide Prevention Center in 2017, it has been carrying out various projects to build a suicide prevention and life safety net in cooperation with the community, such as creating life-respecting villages and training life guardians.
As a result, the city was honored to receive the National Assembly Suicide Prevention Forum Representative Award for two consecutive years, following last year.
