President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating is collapsing.
According to a public opinion poll released on the 13th by Gallup (conducted from the 10th to the 12th nationwide targeting 1,002 people aged 18 and over via wireless phone interviewer method; margin of error ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level; response rate 15.8%), President Yoon's approval rating was surveyed at 11%, down 5 percentage points from last week. Negative evaluations surged by 10 percentage points to 85%.
Even among supporters of the People Power Party, President Yoon's affiliated party, the approval rating was 38%, falling short of the negative evaluation at 53%.
Among respondents who gave a negative evaluation of the president, 49% cited the emergency martial law situation as the reason.
Seventy-five percent of respondents expressed support for President Yoon's impeachment. Regarding the emergency martial law situation, 71% of respondents viewed it as a 'rebellion.'
The ruling party, People Power Party's approval rating is also wavering. The People Power Party's approval rating was 24%, down 3 percentage points from last week. Compared to the fourth week of November before the emergency martial law situation, the People Power Party's rating dropped by 8 percentage points. The Democratic Party's approval rating rose by 3 percentage points from last week to 40%.
Meanwhile, trust in National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik was confirmed amid the emergency martial law situation. When asked about trust in Speaker Woo, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, and People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, Speaker Woo ranked first with 56%. Leader Lee had 41%, Prime Minister Han 21%, and Leader Han 15%.
