The policy forum was hosted by the 'Daejeon Sejong Chungnam Regional Innovation Platform' and organized by the Chungnam National University ESG Center, with participation from Chungnam National University, Daejeon Metropolitan City, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, and Korea Water Resources Corporation. Atomy was the only private company invited.
Kim Seunggi, Director of Atomy, stated, "We are currently implementing measures to reduce the use of plastic in cosmetic containers to less than half."
He continued, "Atomy has been developing cosmetic containers that use less than half the amount of plastic for the past five years. Currently, compared to five years ago, we have reduced plastic usage by more than 20%, and ultimately, we are aiming for zero plastic."
Atomy is conducting various eco-friendly activities such as cosmetic container and product design through the Blue Marine Campaign in 27 countries worldwide.
In 2021, through the 'Eco-friendly Smart Packaging Solution' with CJ Logistics, Atomy reduced the use of plastic vinyl by about 230 tons in one year. Last year, the company published a sustainability (ESG) report that included its eco-friendly activities, sharing, transparent management, and win-win activities with key stakeholders, and received the 'Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in the Comprehensive ESG Category' at the government awards for excellence in sustainable management.
This is the first time in the domestic network marketing industry to receive both the Consumer-Centered Management Certification and the government award, and it is expected to serve as a model for companies pursuing 'sustainable network marketing' in the future.
