Special Forces Commander: "Minister Kim Yong-hyun Ordered 'Pull Out the Lawmakers'"
General Gwak Jong-geun, Commander of the Army Special Warfare Command, stated on the 6th, "During the emergency martial law, I received orders from former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun to remove personnel from the National Assembly building."
On the same day, when Democratic Party lawmakers Kim Byung-joo and Park Seon-won, who visited the Special Warfare Command, asked what orders were received from higher-ups when martial law troops entered the National Assembly building on the 3rd, General Gwak responded accordingly.
General Gwak said, "In my judgment, forcibly removing members of the National Assembly was clearly illegal, so I thought it would be an act of insubordination, but I did not carry out that mission." When asked about the instructions given when the unit was deployed, he replied, "When we were deployed, there were unjust situations, so I first instructed that live ammunition should absolutely not be given to individual personnel."
