'Accused of Treason' Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun Banned from Leaving the Country
With a travel ban imposed on former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who was accused of treason related to the martial law incident involving President Yoon Suk-yeol, a full-scale investigation is expected to proceed.
The National Police Agency's Security Investigation Division announced at around 2:10 PM on the 5th that they had applied for an emergency travel ban on former Minister Kim. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Public Investigation Division 1 (Chief Prosecutor Lee Chan-gyu) imposed the travel ban on former Minister Kim through the Ministry of Justice.
The Labor Party, Green Party, and Justice Party filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office the previous day, accusing President Yoon Suk-yeol, former Minister Kim, and Martial Law Commander Park An-su (Chief of Staff of the Army) of treason under the Criminal Act.

The civic group Committee for the Protection of the Livelihood of Ordinary People filed a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on charges including abuse of authority, treason, obstruction of special official duties, and insult to the Speaker of the National Assembly, while the Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice filed a complaint with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on charges of treason and abuse of authority.
