IEL Science "Enhancing Space Battery Safety through Technology Convergence"
IL Science announced on the 5th that it is enhancing the stability of space batteries through the convergence of silicon-based microfabrication technology and small solid-state battery technology.
The space battery being developed by IL Science targets a highly stable small auxiliary power source, making maximized stability in extreme environments essential. Accordingly, the company plans to utilize silicon microfabrication technology to ensure the auxiliary power source operates stably even in extreme environments such as outer space.
Silicone rubber is an essential material for securing heat resistance to prevent fires in electric vehicles, buildings, wiring, and nuclear power plants. The silicon lens manufacturing technology already possessed by IL Science enables the realization of fine line widths and thicknesses, making it suitable as a packaging enhancement technology for small batteries.
IL Science explained that the convergence of silicon-based microfabrication technology and small solid-state battery technology can maximize the stability improvement of space batteries as well as technical and economic efficiency.
A company representative said, “It is highly significant that the performance improvement of small solid-state batteries for space is possible through the convergence of technologies the company already possesses,” adding, “The application of existing silicon-based manufacturing technology can be expanded not only to mobility lamp manufacturing but also to various industrial fields requiring heat resistance and stability, so rapid growth is expected.”
