Shinsegae Gallery announced on the 5th that it will hold the exhibition "Playmobil in Shinsegae: Small World, Big Gift" on the 6th floor of Shinsegae Centum City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the figure brand Playmobil.
Playmobil, created in 1974 by German designer Hans Beck, is a miniature toy loved by people worldwide. The exhibition will be held from the 6th until February 23 of next year under the theme "Playmobil Visiting Shinsegae Department Store." The company expects to provide a unique experience not only for children but also for adults by allowing customers to touch and take photos of Playmobil, which they had only encountered as miniature toys.
In addition to the miniature department store, visitors can see for the first time the character figure "Raphael," representing Shinsegae Gallery, and diorama works inspired by Shinsegae Department Store through the exhibition.
Also, a diorama created by Playmobil's Korean ambassador, Uncle Baekgom, inspired by the main building of Shinsegae's main store, offers an experience of viewing the main store's scenery in a unique way through miniature toys.
Opportunities for customers to participate in the exhibition themselves have also been prepared. Playmobil, which was previously only experienced as miniature toys such as mini golf, camping cars, and princess castle dressing rooms, is displayed in actual size throughout the exhibition hall, allowing customers to try on costumes and test drive. Additionally, making Playmobil VIP cards and a 5-meter large Santa photo zone provide special memories for people of all ages during the year-end season.
Furthermore, during the exhibition period, collaboration products between the Rijksmuseum and Playmobil, which were difficult to purchase domestically, will be exclusively showcased for the month of December. Representative products include Vermeer’s The Milkmaid (24,000 KRW) and Rembrandt’s Marten & Oopjen (24,000 KRW).
