BNK Financial Group Wins the 31st Corporate Innovation Award 'Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award'
Co-Growth with Local Communities and Group-Level Innovation Initiatives
"Practicing ESG Management, Presenting a Sustainable Growth Innovation Model"
BNK Financial Group (Chairman Bin Dae-in) received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at the ‘31st Corporate Innovation Awards’ held on the 3rd at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Corporate Innovation Awards recognize companies leading management innovation and practicing ESG management, aiming to promote corporate innovation activities.
At this awards ceremony, BNK Financial Group was recognized for adopting ‘regional co-growth’ as the group’s core value amid the economic downturn crisis caused by population decline and corporate departure in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) region, presenting an innovative model for sustainable growth beyond simple financial support.
In August, BNK Financial Group adopted the ‘Regional Co-Growth Declaration’ and is actively participating in fostering region-specific industries by providing financial support worth 18.4 trillion KRW to alleviate management burdens for local SMEs and small business owners, as well as expanding the issuance of shipbuilding advance payment refund guarantees (RG).
Additionally, the group is pursuing various innovative projects to promote coexistence with local communities, including ▲building the ‘Busan Citizen Platform’ based on local currency ▲developing the first financial sector support product for climate tech companies ▲issuing green bonds for future investments ▲providing free ESG education support for companies in the Southeast region.
Its subsidiary, BNK Capital, is also contributing to strengthening global competitiveness by presenting a new innovation model for global market entry, such as converting its overseas local corporation into a banking business, a first among capital companies.
Kang Jong-hoon, Head of Group Management Strategy at BNK Financial Group, said, “This award is a positive evaluation of BNK Financial Group’s efforts to respond to the regional extinction crisis and promote regional coexistence,” adding, “We will discover innovative projects that can grow together with the region and leap forward as a glocal financial group equipped with global competitiveness.”
