Chungnam Provincial Assembly Member of Democratic Party Urges President Who Unilaterally Declared Martial Law to Step Down
Members of the Democratic Party of Korea in the Chungnam Provincial Council have called for the resignation of President Yoon Suk-yeol, who declared martial law.
On the 4th, they held a press conference at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office, stating, "President Yoon unilaterally declared martial law through an emergency address the previous day, and until the decision to lift martial law, the public was left in a state of anger and anxiety."
They further criticized, "By declaring martial law without any legitimate justification, he has brought shame to the nation in the eyes of the world and committed irreparable mistakes in the economy, such as a stock market crash and a sharp rise in exchange rates."
They asserted, "President Yoon's martial law is an act of rebellion, a violation of the Constitution and democracy without proper grounds," and urged, "President Yoon, who has abandoned the oath he made before the people at his inauguration, should step down voluntarily."
