Gangneung City Symphony Orchestra Performance... 'The Nutcracker' Ballet Show Also

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Yangyang-gun (Governor Kim Jin-ha) announced on the 4th that the Yangyang Cultural Foundation will hold the ‘2024 Year-end Concert with Yangyang Residents’ on the 14th (Sat) at 5 PM at the Yangyang Cultural Welfare Center Performance Hall.

The Year-end Concert with Yangyang residents will feature the Gangneung City Symphony Orchestra led by permanent conductor Jeong Min, Kim Yong-geol Dance Theater directed by artistic director Kim Yong-geol, soprano Lee Myung-joo, and bass-baritone Samuel Yoon preparing the stage together.

The Gangneung City Symphony Orchestra will perform Verdi’s ‘Overture to La Forza del Destino,’ and soprano Lee Myung-joo and bass-baritone Samuel Yoon will present operetta pieces such as ‘The Merry Widow’ and ‘Longing for Geumgangsan,’ including opera arias and Korean songs.

Additionally, Kim Yong-geol Dance Theater, led by artistic director Kim Yong-geol, who was a principal dancer of the National Ballet Company and a soloist of the Paris Opera Ballet in France and is currently a professor at the Korea National University of Arts Dance Department, will also present a ballet performance of Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker.’

The splendid and delicate stage by eight ballet dancers is expected to make the year-end concert even more special.

Choi Tae-seop, permanent director of the Yangyang Cultural Foundation, stated, “This year-end concert offers an opportunity to enjoy not only the magnificent performance of the symphony orchestra but also a ballet performance that is rarely accessible, providing the audience with the best cultural experience.”
