‘Getbeol, Come Visit Our Home!’… KIOST Publishes Picture Book About Getbeol Stories
The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST, President Lee Hee-seung) has published the second book in the popular ocean science series "Science from the Sea," titled "Mudflats, Come Visit Our Home!"
Since last year, KIOST has been publishing the "Science from the Sea" picture book series to inspire children and adolescents who dream of becoming future ocean scientists with dreams and inspiration about the sea.
Following the first picture book, "Would You Like to Come Under the Sea of Dokdo?", the second publication, "Mudflats, Come Visit Our Home!" contains fascinating stories and colorful illustrations in one volume, covering the principles of mudflat formation, the ecosystem of benthic organisms, birds and plants that rely on mudflats, and the tools used by fishermen.
This book was created in collaboration with Bombyut Publishing, planned by Senior Researcher Koo Bon-joo, who has studied mudflats at KIOST for 25 years, and written and illustrated by authors An Mi-ran and Guk Ji-seung. The book is available for purchase at both online and offline bookstores.
Along with the "Science from the Sea" picture books, KIOST has contributed to broadening public understanding of ocean science through the publication of various materials such as the "Ocean Library for Dreaming of the Future" series (50 volumes) and the "Sea Through Science" series (10 volumes).
