Group Girls' Generation member Taeyeon has taken legal action against malicious comments and rumors, and her agency has provided an update on the progress.
Taeyeon's agency, SM Entertainment, stated in a press release on the 2nd, "We would like to inform you about the progress of legal actions regarding malicious posts and comments related to our artist Taeyeon, including defamation, insults, and sexual harassment." They explained, "So far, through reports from fans and our own monitoring, we have collected thousands of pieces of evidence of malicious posts and comments related to Taeyeon from Naver, Daum (Women’s Generation, Mixed Martial Arts, Soul Dresser, Dotax, etc.), Nate Pann, The Qoo, Instiz, MLB Park, X (formerly Twitter), DC Inside (various galleries such as Drama Gallery, Female Celebrities Gallery, Male Celebrities Gallery, Billboard Gallery, Circle Chart Gallery, K-pop Gallery, etc.), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Ilbe Storage, Bobae Dream, FM Korea, Instiz, and others." They added, "Based on this, we have been continuously preparing and submitting hundreds of complaints to investigative agencies on charges such as insult and defamation."
Additionally, the agency stated, "We would like to inform you that many of the accused have been identified and investigations are underway. Recently, for two cases (including insult), additional charges were confirmed, resulting in final decisions by the prosecution office such as conditional suspension of indictment with education at the probation office, and dismissal of prosecution due to the death of the suspect." Furthermore, "In the past, for dozens of cases where the suspects were confirmed to be minors, the cases were closed after submission of letters of apology with parental confirmation, and for adults, there have been cases of fines and conditional suspension of indictment. We are continuing to respond to the remaining cases," they emphasized. Finally, they stated, "We will continue to respond strongly without any leniency to malicious rumors, malicious posts/comments, defamation, and personal insults about Taeyeon on online communities, social networking services (SNS), and portal sites, and we will do our best to protect our artist."
