Verbal Abuse Toward Labor Inspector and Refusal to Appear... Arrest of Company Representative Suspected of Wage Arrears
The CEO of a company who repeatedly refused the labor inspector's requests to appear for an investigation and verbally abused the inspector has been arrested.
The Gyeongnam Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 3rd that it arrested CEO A of an automobile parts manufacturing company on the 2nd.
According to the Yangsan Branch, Mr. A operated an automobile parts manufacturing business in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, and withheld part of the wages on the grounds of cleaning and restoring the dormitory used by foreign workers to its original condition.
As a result, a complaint was filed, but he is suspected of continuously verbally abusing the inspector who requested his appearance for investigation and refusing to appear.
The Yangsan Branch judged that a forced investigation was necessary for the business owner who showed no intention to settle the wage arrears, did not cooperate with the investigation, and did not hesitate to verbally abuse the inspector.
Accordingly, they obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. A from the court and arrested him at the workplace around 4 p.m. on the 2nd.
The Yangsan Branch is conducting an investigation by interrogating Mr. A regarding the allegations of unpaid wages to foreign workers.
