National Pukyong University Team Wins Korea International Trade Association GTEP Youth Trade Award 'Grand Prize'
Recognition of Successful Export Cases and Achievements of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Products
Students from the Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Training Project Group (GTEP, Director: An Tae-geon) at Pukyong National University won the Grand Prize for Excellence in the E-commerce category at the 18th Electronic Commerce Competition in 2024.
Hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), this competition evaluates the trade professional education and practical achievements of GTEP trainees and aims to discover outstanding cases. Among 130 teams nationwide, 15 teams that passed the preliminary round in the e-commerce category presented their final presentations on November 26 at COEX, Seoul.

View original imageThe ‘Hwajunggwanja Team,’ composed of Jin Chang-min, Kang Ji-hoo, Lee Ye-jin from the Department of International Trade, Kim Soo-bin from the Department of Marine and Fisheries Management, and Kwon Jae-eun from the Department of International Area Studies at Pukyong National University, presented a case where they successfully exported products from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through hands-on efforts, winning the top prize.
The 18th GTEP trainees from Pukyong National University presented and shared their achievements in marketing and directly managing sales, logistics, and customs clearance of competitive SME products on major e-commerce platforms such as Kmall24, eBay, Amazon, and Qoo10.
They signed an MOU with Yeongrong, a small business in Busan (CEO Kwon Tae-hyuk), and began registering products on the large global online shopping mall ‘Shopee Taiwan.’ Utilizing key marketing strategies such as the ‘Diderot effect’ and ‘IMC marketing,’ they conducted online advertising, CM songs, AR filters, and experience groups, achieving exports exceeding 30 million KRW.
Jin Chang-min of the Hwajunggwanja Team said, “Through one year of GTEP education, I acquired basic trade knowledge and challenged myself with practical e-commerce work, which I believe led to this achievement. The valuable experiences gained by students working on-site with professors and companies seem to have paid off.”

Pukyong National University was selected this year for the GTEP project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea International Trade Association. The university has been fostering global talents equipped with trade theory and field practice by providing students with practical experience in cooperation with local SMEs. The university plans to expand and develop the project scale to strengthen support capabilities for export beginner companies in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions.
