Seoul Selected as the 'Top MICE City' Desired by Global Visitors for 10 Consecutive Years
Inducted into the 'Hall of Fame'
Seoul has been selected as the 'Best MICE City' for 10 consecutive years. The city hosted various international events such as the 'League of Legends World Championship' finals, watched by hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, and the Korean version of CES, Smart Life Week (SLW).
On the 2nd, the city announced that it was inducted into the Hall of Fame after being chosen as the 'Best MICE City' for 10 consecutive years in the '2024 Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards,' voted by 300,000 people. MICE is a compound word combining Meeting, Incentive travel, Convention, and Exhibition.
Global Traveler is a premium U.S. business travel media outlet that annually selects the best airlines, hotels, and services in various categories through reader votes. Notably, 43% of its readers are MICE-related planners and organizers with high purchasing power.
Previously, Seoul also received awards such as 'Favorite City in the World' from the U.S. Travel Awards and 'Asia's Best Exhibition Host City' from Singapore's M&C Asia Stella Awards. This year, it successfully attracted 31 large-scale international conferences, including the 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer with 8,000 participants.
The city cited systematic domestic and international marketing as the reason for Seoul's elevated status as a MICE city. Currently, through 'Plus Seoul,' a support project for the MICE industry, Seoul provides comprehensive support by sector when attracting or hosting MICE events.
Additionally, starting from the recently opened Magok Convention Center in the southwestern area, the infrastructure for MICE in Seoul is expected to be enriched through the expansion of the Jamsil Sports Complex area by 2031 and the northern Seoul Station area as a MICE hub.
While MICE events have mainly focused on international conferences due to a lack of exhibition and convention facilities, the city expects that various exhibitions and fairs will be held after infrastructure expansion in areas like Jamsil.
