Direct Execution by Responsible Officials Saves 140 Million Won in Budget

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) is attracting attention by significantly reducing costs through direct maintenance of computerized data on legal district boundaries in island areas by responsible officials ahead of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.

According to the city on the 2nd, the legal district boundaries (city/county/district, eup/myeon, dong/ri) in island areas were inconsistent with the Comprehensive Real Estate Registry System, so errors were corrected using parcel boundary information from maps, satellite images, and legal district boundaries.

In the first half of the year, 1,440 sheets in Nam-myeon, Hwajeong-myeon, and Samsan-myeon areas were maintained, and in the second half, maintenance was carried out on 2,435 sheets along the coastal areas of Dolsan-eup and Dong districts.

This project was the first in a local government to be directly performed by responsible officials, resulting in a cost saving of approximately 140 million KRW in service fees, and its achievements were recognized with an ‘Excellence Award’ at the Jeollanam-do-led Active Administration Best Practices Competition.

A city official stated, “This data is collected by the National Geographic Information Institute and used as basic information in both private and administrative sectors, so it will provide accurate online map services to tourists visiting the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo,” adding, “It is expected to contribute to the successful hosting of the Islands Expo.”
