(G)I-DLE Re-signs with Cube Entertainment... "Will Provide Full Support"
Broke the "Cursed 7 Years"... All Members Renew Contracts
The 7th-year debut group (G)I-DLE has reached their prime. Following their first grand prize, they moved fans deeply by announcing a contract renewal with their agency.
On the 2nd, their agency Cube Entertainment stated, "After in-depth discussions with the members of (G)I-DLE, we have completed contract renewals with all members, including Soyeon, whose exclusive contract had already ended, as well as Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua, who still had remaining contract periods."
Cube expressed, "We are grateful to (G)I-DLE for completing the contract renewal based on a strong trust relationship and dreaming of even greater heights, and we sincerely thank the fans who have patiently awaited this news for a long time."
They added, "Through this contract renewal, we will further solidify the brand that (G)I-DLE has built over the past 7 years," and "We will continue to provide full support so that they can move toward wider stages and higher places." However, since each member's contract period differs, the exact renewal duration was not disclosed.
Earlier, (G)I-DLE leader Jeon Soyeon, after receiving the 'Record of the Year' award?one of the four grand prizes at the 'Melon Music Awards 2024' (MMA 2024) held on the 30th at Inspire Arena in Jung-gu, Incheon?said, "There were many articles saying that (G)I-DLE would disband or end because my contract was over. But we decided to renew together, not just me alone."
She continued, "Before coming on stage today, the five members agreed to renew our contracts together. Next year, the year after, and for a lifetime, the five of us will continue to deliver good music."
Jeon Soyeon debuted as a solo artist in 2017 after appearing on Mnet's survival program 'Produce 101' in January 2016, and her exclusive contract period differs from the other (G)I-DLE members. Her contract with Cube Entertainment ended first in November, so until last month, she was technically unsigned.
In August, during (G)I-DLE's world tour at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Seoul, Jeon Soyeon performed a solo stage with the phrase "Contract ends in November. Who can stop me?" which sparked speculation that she might be leaving Cube.
Debuting in May 2018, (G)I-DLE succeeded in differentiating themselves from other girl groups by emphasizing self-production centered around Jeon Soyeon. They subsequently released hit songs such as "Tomboy" and "Nude," rising to the ranks of a leading girl group.
