Seoul Jung-gu, Vote for Top 10 Policies That Shined This Year... Until the 13th
Vote for 5 Policy Choices in 'Ontong Jung-gu'
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) is conducting a vote for the ‘2024 Jung-gu Policy TOP10’ directly chosen by residents from the 2nd to the 13th of this month. Through this vote, the district plans to select representative policies that have empowered residents throughout the year and reflect their voices in next year’s projects.
Anyone can participate in the vote through Jung-gu’s official platform ‘Onttong Jung-gu.’ Among the participants, 106 people will be selected by lottery to receive various prizes. The prizes include wireless earphones (1 person), department store gift certificates worth 100,000 KRW (2 people), cultural gift certificates worth 50,000 KRW (3 people), and chicken gifticons (100 people).
This vote features a total of 23 policy candidates across five major fields: urban development, education and culture, welfare and health, tourism and economy, and citizen communication. Residents can vote for their top 5 preferred policies regardless of the field.
In the urban development category, four policies aimed at creating a more convenient and livable city were nominated. △‘Namsan Height Restriction Relaxation,’ resolving a 30-year-old long-standing issue, △‘Introduction of Free Pass for Apartment Complex Shared Entrances,’ responsible for the golden minute in emergencies, △Seoul’s first monorail ‘Daehyeonsan Water Tank Monorail Installation,’ △‘Rooftop Park and Elevator Installation at Beoti Public Parking Lot’ were selected as candidates.
In the education and culture category, four policies that enhanced the quality of education and cultural standards were nominated. △‘Jung-gu Style Career Innovation Program’ nurturing creative convergence talents, △‘Parent Empathy Talk Meeting’ where the mayor directly communicated with the education field, △‘Jeongdong Night Tour,’ Jung-gu’s representative festival capturing Jeongdong’s modern and contemporary historical and cultural heritage, △‘Priority Registration System for Jung-gu Residents at Public Sports Facilities’ awaiting residents’ choice.
In the welfare and health category, six policies that carefully cared for residents’ daily lives were nominated. △‘Jung-gu Style Senior Total Care,’ integrating senior transportation expenses, senior healthcare, and Jung-gu Senior Club, △‘Single in Jung-gu,’ tailored support for single-person households, △‘One-stop Service for Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Parenting,’ covering from pregnancy to childcare, △‘Health Mileage App,’ accumulating points with every step, △‘Disinfection Task Force,’ solving pest problems, △‘Smart Shelter,’ a comfortable bus stop, are policies receiving great responses from residents.
Next, the tourism and economy category features four candidates leading the co-growth of the local economy and tourism: △‘Myeongdong Square Creation,’ a light plaza surpassing the world-famous Times Square, △‘JOB GO and Demand-tailored Jobs,’ supporting any resident who wants to work, △‘Traditional Market Commercial District Development Center,’ the nation’s first public-private cooperative organization driving local commercial district revitalization, △‘Pet Welfare’ including visiting, walking, and pet festivals are gaining attention.
The citizen communication category includes five candidates strengthening communication with residents through closer administration: △‘AI Naepyeon Jung-gu App,’ where all administrative services can be viewed at a glance, △‘Namsan Foot Forest Trail,’ enjoying a premium forest zone in daily life, △‘Welcome Meeting for New Residents,’ warmly greeting new residents, △‘Mayor’s Direct Communication Channels’ including the mayor’s communication phone, casual dates, and harmonious dates, △‘Neighbor Dispute 119 and Conflict Communication Room,’ mediating lifestyle disputes and conflicts among neighbors were nominated.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, “This vote is a way to review the policies of the year and check how much efficacy they have brought to residents’ daily lives,” adding, “We will analyze the voting results to examine the policy directions residents want and become a stronger ally for Jung-gu residents next year.”

The voting results will be announced on the 18th of this month. Based on the results, Jung-gu plans to incorporate residents’ voices into next year’s projects.
