Leap to 'Art Tourism Hub No.1' with Works by World-Renowned Artists

View original imageAccording to the county on the 27th, Dochodo Island, famous for its hydrangea festival and hackberry forest trail, is a difficult-to-reach island that takes more than five hours from Seoul. However, it is a sacred place for ecotourism within the Dadohaehaesang National Park, attracting over 200,000 tourists, an increase of more than 50,000 compared to last year.
Before the unveiling of the work by the world-renowned artist Olafur Eliasson, it was an ecotourism site, but since its unveiling, it has been transforming into an art island that harmonizes with the natural ecology.

County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "There were many difficulties when thinking about the process until the work was unveiled, but it appeared as a result of enduring while dreaming of today," adding, "In the future, we plan to install a work by the world-famous British sculptor Antony Gormley on nearby Bigeumdo Island. Once the installation is complete, we expect it to transform into a genuine art island visited by about 500,000 people annually, including art lovers."
