LG Electronics' new glass powder business, Pyrotech, which involves fine particles obtained by crushing glass, has been confirmed to have proven product safety from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
According to the industry on the 26th, the FDA approved LG Electronics' Pyrotech as a food contact substance (FCS) on the 2nd of this month. Accordingly, LG Electronics has laid the groundwork to expand the Pyrotech business to food packaging materials.

In 2022, LG Electronics added "manufacturing and sales of functional materials such as glass powder" to its articles of incorporation and has been fostering functional glass powder materials as a new business. Pyrotech is LG Electronics' antibacterial functional material, meaning "to protect products in a clean state without contamination." LG Electronics developed Pyrotech based on its proprietary glass composition design technology and understanding of the actual usage environment of home appliances, and began selling Pyrotech domestically from last year.
