The meeting involved visiting the site to hear difficulties and suggestions, discussing various policy development measures.
About 20 people attended the meeting, including Hong Won-gil (Gimpo) Provincial Assembly member, Gimpo city department officials, resident representatives, and airport noise measurement experts.
The main agenda items included ▲discovering support projects at the Gyeonggi Province (metropolitan) level ▲establishing a support window to listen to residents' complaints ▲setting directions for a survey on support status for residents affected by airport noise.
Support for airport noise damage has been promoted through financial contributions by the Korea Airports Corporation and local governments under the "Act on Prevention of Airport Noise and Support for Noise Countermeasure Areas" (abbreviated as the Airport Noise Prevention Act). Since 2017, Gyeonggi Province has also enacted the "Ordinance on Support for Residents in Airport Noise-Affected Areas in Gyeonggi Province" and conducted surveys on resident support status.
Gyeonggi Province plans to establish effective province-level support policies for residents affected by airport noise by analyzing the implementation results of tasks derived from the first survey conducted in 2019, expert advisory meetings, interviews with local assembly members, and opinions gathered from two rounds of discussions held in Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, and Gimpo cities.
