Busan Veterans Affairs Office Holds 84th Anniversary Ceremony of Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement
The Busan Regional Veterans Office (Director Lee Nam-il) held a commemorative ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 23rd in the main auditorium of the Busan Office of Education Student Education and Culture Center to mark the 84th anniversary of the Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement and the 9th Busan Anti-Japanese Student Day.

View original imageThe ceremony, hosted by the Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement Commemoration Association, proceeded with ▲the national anthem ▲introduction of guests ▲awards ceremony ▲commemorative speech ▲congratulatory speeches ▲three cheers of "manse" ▲and closing remarks, followed by a flower-laying ceremony at the Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement Memorial Tower. About 300 people attended, including the Director of the Busan Regional Veterans Office, the Busan City Citizen Communication Advisor, the Mayor of Geumjeong District, the Director of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and students from Kaesong and Dongnae High Schools.
The Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement, known as the Nodai Incident, was a representative anti-Japanese student movement in Busan opposing the biased and ethnically discriminatory management of the Gyeongnam Student Military Strengthening Competition held during the wartime mobilization of students for military training in 1940. The biased management was carried out by Nodai, a Japanese soldier who served as the referee and aimed to secure victory for Japanese schools.
On the 16th, more than 500 citizens participated in the Busan Citizens Running Competition, running from Gudeok Stadium to Busan Children's Grand Park. Afterwards, a Golden Bell quiz reflecting on the historical significance of the Busan Anti-Japanese Student Movement and various side events were held.
