On the 24th, HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation announced the recipients of the 2nd HD Hyundai Honor Awards, including the 'Purme Foundation,' through its official website.
Established last year by HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation, the HD Hyundai Honor Awards aim to discover and support citizen heroes dedicated to helping those in need, thereby spreading positive influence within our society. Awardees are selected based on key criteria such as ▲vision and goals ▲social contribution activities ▲public interest and social impact ▲commitment to solving social issues. The grand prize winner receives a cash award of 150 million KRW.
The 'Purme Foundation,' chosen as this year’s grand prize winner, is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 to support rehabilitation and independence for people with disabilities. Along with 15 affiliated institutions, it promotes rehabilitation medical services, family support programs for the disabled, community welfare projects, and independence support initiatives.
In 2016, the foundation established the 'Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital,' the first specialized rehabilitation hospital for children in Korea, laying the foundation for pediatric medical services nationwide. During its establishment, it garnered support from over 10,000 citizens and more than 500 companies, significantly contributing to the expansion of sharing and donation culture in our society.
In 2020, the foundation also launched 'Purme Social Farm,' a workplace for young adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on job creation for this group. 'Purme Social Farm' is Korea’s first rehabilitation and independence facility for the disabled based on a smart farm model, currently employing around 50 young adults with developmental disabilities.
