Seongdong-gu Supports Teaching Materials and Educational Supplies for 135 Daycare Centers
Up to 1.35 million KRW per enrollment for purchasing teaching materials and educational tools necessary for infant and toddler care and program operation at daycare centers, with differential support by enrollment... Additional support for Open Daycare Centers and those with over 100 enrollments, expected to alleviate economic burdens of daycare operation and improve quality of care services
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that it will promote the ‘Daycare Center Teaching Materials and Educational Tools Purchase Support Project,’ which provides financial support for purchasing teaching materials and educational tools that aid the development of infants and toddlers at 135 daycare centers.
The ‘Daycare Center Teaching Materials and Educational Tools Purchase Support’ project aims to alleviate the financial burden on daycare centers that feel economic pressure in purchasing teaching materials and educational tools due to the decrease in the number of children, thereby reducing operational costs and improving the quality of childcare services.
The support targets 135 daycare centers that are established and operating as of November 1, 2024. However, workplace daycare centers receiving operational funds from the Employment Insurance Fund and daycare centers scheduled for closure are excluded.
Support is provided for the purchase of teaching materials and educational tools necessary for infant and toddler care and the operation of childcare programs, including standard childcare programs such as block play activities, role play activities, art activities, language activities, math and science activities, music activities, and physical activities.
The support funds are differentiated by the number of enrolled children as follows: ▲ 5 million KRW for 10 or fewer children (9 centers) ▲ 6.8 million KRW for 11 to 20 children (44 centers) ▲ 8.6 million KRW for 21 to 40 children (51 centers) ▲ 9.9 million KRW for 41 to 60 children (16 centers) ▲ 11.7 million KRW for 61 to 80 children (8 centers) ▲ 13.5 million KRW for 81 or more children (7 centers).
In addition, to create a stable childcare environment, 79 ‘Open Daycare Centers’ currently in operation will receive an additional 10% of the support amount based on the number of enrolled children. ‘Open Daycare Centers’ refer to daycare centers that open their physical spaces to allow free access within the facility and enable parents’ daily participation from childcare programs to daycare center management.
Furthermore, three daycare centers with 100 or more enrolled children will receive an additional 93,000 KRW.
