Nowon District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends 'Youth Sports Festival'

On the afternoon of the 23rd, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Seoul, attended the 'Youth Sports Festival' held at Nohae Sports Park basketball court.

The 'Youth Sports Festival' was organized to commemorate the opening of Nohae Youth Sports Park and to promote healthy leisure activities and sports culture among youth.

The park, which opened on October 30, consists of ▲ Nowon X-TOP ▲ 3 basketball courts ▲ 2 futsal courts ▲ 2 multipurpose courts for jokgu and badminton ▲ a youth play culture facility called Youth Agit.

Various programs took place throughout the venue. A middle and high school youth basketball tournament was held at the basketball courts, along with free throw and three-point shooting contests, and a special match event with former professional basketball player Kim Hyun-joong (Crocsman), adding excitement. At Nowon X-TOP, an X Games competition featuring skateboarding street, BMX, rollerblading, and stunt scooter freestyle events was held, showcasing passionate performances by the youth.

In front of the Youth Agit, a random play dance event was held, greatly enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Additionally, various side programs such as a signed ball event, instant photo shoots, karaoke, and an E-sports zone were operated, providing abundant entertainment for participants.

The opening ceremony, which began with a K-POP dance performance and a congratulatory performance by rapper Outsider, was attended by about 800 people including Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the National Assembly, Kim Sung-hwan, Member of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and local residents. The ceremony proceeded in the order of ▲ introduction of guests ▲ progress report ▲ presentation of appreciation plaques ▲ guest speeches ▲ ribbon cutting ▲ commemorative photo ▲ facility tour ▲ and awards for each competition category.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “The reality is that there is a lack of spaces where youth can safely release their energy and stay without being overwhelmed by their studies,” adding, “I hope Nohae Sports Park will become a representative space where youth can safely engage in activities and enjoy themselves to the fullest.”
