Gwangju Nam-gu to Provide 254 Jobs for People with Disabilities Next Year

Nam-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 22nd that it will support 254 jobs for people with disabilities next year to help them establish a foundation for independence through economic activities and enhance self-satisfaction through social participation.
The jobs provided to people with disabilities in the district in 2025 will be divided into 80 general-type, 124 welfare-type, and 50 specialized-type positions according to the project type. The general and welfare types are operated in the form of jobs directly provided by the district office, while the specialized type jobs are provided through private consigned executing agencies.
The general-type jobs assist with tasks at the district office and 17 dong administrative welfare centers. There are 45 full-time jobs working 40 hours per week and 35 part-time jobs working 20 hours per week.
The welfare-type jobs total 124, with participants working 14 hours per week for a total of 56 hours per month. Activities mainly include mail sorting, environmental cleanup, cultural and artistic activities, promotion and education on disabled parking zones, and awareness campaigns.
Eligibility for participation in the general and welfare types requires registered persons with disabilities aged 18 or older residing in the district who are capable of performing the tasks. Applications must be submitted by visiting the administrative welfare center of the applicant’s dong by the 28th.
The specialized-type jobs include 5 positions linked to special education welfare and 45 assistant caregiver jobs for people with developmental disabilities. Participants work 14 hours per week for a total of 56 hours per month, performing tasks such as assisting librarians at libraries and pet care. Recruitment for participants is scheduled to take place in December.
