Yeungnam University Confirms Reappointment of Current President Choi Oechul for a 4-Year Term
Yeungnam Educational Foundation held a board meeting and announced on the 21st that Choi Oechul (68), the current president of Yeungnam University, has been appointed as the 17th president of Yeungnam University. His term will be four years, starting from February 1, 2025.

President Choi has served as a professor at Yeungnam University since March 1989 and is currently serving as the 16th president of Yeungnam University. During his tenure, he has led various changes and innovations at the university. He has held key positions within the university, including Vice President for External Cooperation, Dean of the Park Chung-hee Saemaul Graduate School, Director of the International Development Cooperation Center, and Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration. From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Director of Planning and Coordination at Yeungnam Educational Foundation.
President Choi also serves as the chairman of the Global Saemaul Development Network (GSDN) and has held positions such as the inaugural president of the Korean Saemaul Studies Association, chairman of the Global Saemaul Forum, and president of the Korea Regional Development Research Foundation.
