Ulsan City’s Kim Kyung-sik Awarded the 28th Civil Service Volunteer Award Main Prize
Leading the Improvement of Public Services through the Establishment of a Convenient Public Transportation System
Ulsan City’s Bus and Taxi Division officer Kim Kyung-sik will receive the main award at the ‘28th Civil Service Volunteer Award 2024’ at 11 a.m. on the 21st at SBS Sangam Open Hall.
The Civil Service Volunteer Award is an honorable award jointly hosted and organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and SBS, given to public officials who strive to enhance public convenience through creative civil service policies and dedicated volunteer work.
This year, among local governments and special administrative agencies, one grand prize winner, nine main award winners, and one special award winner were selected based on strict criteria including work promotion, volunteer activities, and public and private life.
Officer Kim Kyung-sik entered public service in October 2005 as a general fixed-term public official and pioneered nationwide initiatives such as △the transition to individual city bus routes △the paid project for dual-naming city bus stops △regular operation of hydrogen city bus routes.
He also led efforts to establish a convenient public transportation system over 18 years by promoting △the rural-type transportation model ‘Masil Bus’ △customized route reorganization using big data on bus routes, improving services for citizens.
For these contributions, Officer Kim has received numerous awards including the Proud Public Official Ulsan Mayor’s Commendation, Excellent Public Official in Active Administration Commendation, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Commendation, and Korea Transport Institute President’s Commendation.
Officer Kim Kyung-sik said, “I will continue to do my best with a strong sense of duty as a public official and to improve services for citizens.”
