K-Bio Lab Hub Project Team Expands Korea-Denmark Pharmaceutical Bio Cooperation Opportunities

The Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) K-Bio Lab Hub Project Promotion Team jointly hosted the '2024 Korea-Denmark Pharmaceutical, Bio & CMC Innovation Technology Forum' on the 20th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, together with the Danish Bio Association (Dansk Bio) and the Korea Innovative Medicines Consortium (KIMCo).
This event was held in a hybrid conference format to create a platform for technology exchange in the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) field through cooperation between Korea and Denmark, and to promote global collaboration between companies from both countries.

View original imageUnder the theme of 'Global Cooperation CMC for Pharmaceutical Bio Innovation and Drug Development & Manufacturing,' the forum was attended by CMC experts, bio company representatives, and stakeholders from both countries.
Key presentations included 'The Danish Biotech Ecosystem and Global Cooperation' by Ditte Vejse, Head of the Innovation Center (ICDK) at the Embassy of Denmark in Korea; 'Secrets of Outsourcing in Synthetic Pharmaceuticals' by Jørgen Olsen, Secretary General of Dansk Bio and Vice Chairman of NCK AS, representing Danish experts; and 'Development of CAR-T Therapies Using Automated Manufacturing Methods for Quality and Regulatory Compliance' by Kim Jong-hoon, CTO and Vice President of Abclon, representing Korean experts. The forum also featured panel presentations and discussions on 'Global Cooperation Potential in CMC and Biopharmaceuticals between Korean and Danish Companies.'

Han In-seok, Head of the Promotion Team, stated, "Through this event, we aim to share and discuss the latest trends related to CMC, develop various strategies, and strengthen close collaboration and partnerships between pharmaceutical and bio companies of both countries through this cooperation." Huh Kyung-hwa, CEO of KIMCo, said, "Denmark is a very important partner country in the global new drug development ecosystem, and we expect practical partnership opportunities to expand into various fields such as CMC, new drug research and development, and investment between companies of both countries in the future."
